We are thrilled to share an important milestone in the life of our church—"Light of the Gospel" has officially become a part of the worldwide community of the Alliance World Fellowship (AWF) (also known as The Christian and Missionary Alliance, C&MA).
This is more than just a name change or an addition to a list of organizations. It is our entrance into a large international family of evangelical churches, united by a common faith, mission, and passion for ministry.
What is the Alliance World Fellowship?
The Alliance World Fellowship (AWF) is a dynamic, global network of churches and ministries with deep roots in the missionary movement founded in the 1880s by the prominent preacher Albert Benjamin Simpson in the United States.
Today, the AWF represents:
-
Over 6.2 million inclusive members worldwide.
-
Presence in over 88 countries on all continents.
-
A network of 22,000 churches and numerous ministries.
The AWF plays a crucial role in the global missionary movement, supporting missionaries and ministries among the most underserved and unreached people groups with the Gospel.
Our Theological Foundation: The Fourfold Gospel
The core doctrine and mission of the Alliance are beautifully summarized in the "Fourfold Gospel." This focuses on the person and work of Jesus Christ as:
-
Jesus Christ — our Savior (symbol: The Cross): He died for our sins, offering us forgiveness and eternal life.
-
Jesus Christ — our Sanctifier (symbol: The Laver/Basin): He provides us with the power of the Holy Spirit for a deeper Christian life, sanctification, and victory over sin.
-
Jesus Christ — our Healer (symbol: The Oil Pitcher): He is our Divine Healer, bringing restoration and wellness for the body and soul.
-
Jesus Christ — our Soon Coming King (symbol: The Crown): He will return as King to establish His eternal Kingdom.
These four truths reflect our pursuit of "All of Jesus for All the World."
Fresh Inspiration: The AWF Quadrennial Convocation 2025
In October 2025, delegates from around the world gathered for the Alliance's highest governing assembly—the AWF Quadrennial Convocation, which was held this time in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire (West Africa).
Under the theme "Going Together," leaders from all continents reaffirmed their commitment to the shared mission: to bring the Gospel, especially to the least-reached peoples, and to deepen their lives in Christ. This Convocation served as a powerful source of inspiration and a demonstration of the strength and unity of the Alliance in its global calling.
What Does This Mean for "Light of the Gospel"?
Joining the Alliance World Fellowship means:
-
Mission Expansion: We become part of a global missionary force. Our local work in Ukraine is now strengthened by worldwide resources and prayer support, and we, in turn, contribute to the global mission.
-
Shared Heritage: We embrace the legacy of a deep spiritual life that strives for sanctification and the fervent missionary passion established by A. B. Simpson.
-
Unity in Christ: We enter into closer cooperation with sister churches in Europe and worldwide, working together to fulfill Christ's Great Commission.
-
Support: During challenging times in Ukraine, we have the support and partnership of a large, experienced, and committed family.
We believe that our joining the Alliance World Fellowship marks a new stage for our church, one that will allow us to carry the Light of the Gospel into our community and beyond with greater power and effectiveness.
